A Beckham midweek pick-me-up

Posted in Ad campaign by Nneoma Ulu on January 4, 2012

I don’t know about you but this week is dragging. In comparison to the joyous festive fun that was had last week, this week sucks. The reality of being back at work, the severe dip in temperature outside and the annoying overcrowding on public transport is enough to send anyone into severe depression. So thank you to David Beckham (and photographer Alasdair McLellan) for this wonderful ad campaign for your range, Bodywear (posh for underwear), hitting stores and hm.com next month.

His hair is just perfect, isn’t it…

Lanvin gets the A/W 2011 party started

Posted in Autumn/Winter 2011 by Nneoma Ulu on August 31, 2011

What do you get when you mix Lanvin and rapper,  Pitbull…? Good times, that’s what.

It’s good to see Alber Elbaz has a sense of humour and that he can shake his booty on the dancefloor when required. This Autimn/Winter 2011 campaign video from Lanvin features a bunch of models including Raquel Zimmermann and Karen Elson (and some male models too) dancing to Pitbull’s I Know You Want Me. I’m currently learning these dance moves for my next night out!

Helena Bonham Carter x Marc Jacobs Fall 2011

The first of Marc Jacobs‘ Fall 2011 ad campaign featuring British actress Helena Bonham Carter popped up last week and this one of her looking a few biscuits short of a tea party is the latest to appear. Insane asylums were cited as one of his reference points for the collection. Go figure.

Jourdan Dunn for Burberry: Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign

Posted in Ad campaign by Nneoma Ulu on February 10, 2011

I am a big fan of Christopher Bailey. What I love about about him is his ability to capture modern Britishness. My only concern has been why this hasn’t been reflected in Burberry’s ad campaigns – they don’t ever seem to capture the multicultural vibrancy of Britain. So my eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw this ad campaign as I flicked through my latest copy of Elle magazine. Jourdan Dunn looks great and I hope this is not a bit of tokenism to silence the critics.

Andrej Prejic & Karolina Kurkova x Jean Paul Gaultier

Clearly androgyny is the new black and the trend is led by the androgynous male sensation, Andrej Prejic. The latest – Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign.

Nothing like two hot blondes in a sexy pose to sell some clothes!

I’m an eighties girl

Posted in Spring/Summer 2010 by Nneoma Ulu on January 15, 2010

I know the nineties is having a bit of a revival at the moment, with Selfridges leading the pack with their concept pop-up store The Nineties are Vintage that is in store right now. But I am all about the eighties and it looks like Moschino is too. Shots of their Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign reveal big hair, piles of big, garish jewellery, not to mention some firece looking clothes modeled by Isabeli Fontana.

Bringing in the new year with a flashback to the old was a good move. Reminds me of the days I used to wear patterned Moschino tights… yeah, I did it. I’m not ashamed.
