Thinking outside the orange-coloured box

There are certain things in life, as a woman you should just know.  How to use a compass, how to start a fire, how to tie a scarf. These are the kind of skills that will come in handy when you are too old to remember how you learnt them. When it comes to tying a scarf, every girl knows that the only scarf worth worrrying about is of the Hermès variety. Luckily for us, Hermès have decided to use their Autumn/Winter ad campaign to prove that not only are their scarves a must have fashion accessory but also they come in very handy when you need an eye mask or even a cape. The Sherlock Holmes inspired shoot features Constance Jablonski and is shot by Paolo Roversi.

This is perfect for utilising the cost-per-use strategy to justify spending an obscene amount of money on something seemingly small.

How you gonna Act da Fool?

Exclusive video content, short films and designer collaborations seem to be dominating the fashion world at the moment. I guess it beats the pop-up shop. Next up,the boys of Proenza Schouler have decided to bring their latest collection to life with a short film shot by Harmony Korine (he did Kids). The film, Act da Fool, was shot in Korine’s hometown of Nashville, Tennessee and was styled by Mel Ottenberg.

Korine told Nowness that the film focuses on angst-y teenage girls who “sleep in abandoned cars and set things on fire. It’s about the great things in life. The stars in the sky and lots of malt liquor.”

The cool thing about the video is that the girls seem oblivious to the clothes they’re wearing which draws more attention to them. Clever.

Bling bling all in yer face*

There is good reason for the *reference to Missy Elliot’s Get Ur Freak On… four words – Mawi for (that might be six actually).

This necklace with Mawi’s trademark skulls and blingtastic teardrop crystals makes me wish it was Christmas so I could tell Santa I’d been a very good girl!

Alber Elbaz translates the dream to a bigger audience

This excites me. I have no doubt it will be great. No watered down versions of the dream, just pure unadulterated Lanvin. Bring. It. On.

Clothes define who you are: within five seconds of meeting someone their clothes say more than they have.
