An open love letter to Zara

Posted in Autumn/Winter 2011, High Street Fashion by Nneoma Ulu on November 12, 2011

Dear Zara,

How do I love you? Let me count the ways. Every month you give me reasons to spend all of my pay cheque on you. I love that you are able to know what my wardrobe needs before I even know and how you translate the catwalk trends into affordable pieces. You make me want to renounce all the other high street stores and have an exclusive relationship with you in which I know you will be loyal and always deliver what I need.

Your November lookbook is reminiscent of Stella McCartney and Prabal Gurung 2012 Resort and I want it all. The careful styling of the pieces has made it impossible for me to choose individual pieces, I want all the looks. The clashing prints inspire me to take the leap and try it. The denim and lace combos provide me with stimulus for a smart casual work look. The peplum skirt will be the go to for my I-mean-business look. The possibilities are endless and it is you and only you that provides me with this and for that, I thank you Zara. Thank you for pushing me to dress better and be better.

Lots of love,

The Prabal Gurung Online Experiment

Posted in Ad campaign by Nneoma Ulu on August 9, 2011

Prabal Gurung is testing us online folk with his new web-only ad campaign for Fall. The images debuted exclusively on Style.com but are sure to spread far and wide. Gurung tells Style.com: “For a new company like mine, the media budget is very limited. The resources that are online for free—Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr—it’s extremely crucial that we use those tools. These images [will] get picked up in China, picked up in random places traditional media would never reach.”

Prabal Gurung worked with photographer Daniel Jackson, model Julia Saner, and his longtime stylist, Tiina Laakkonen.
