The LOOK Show: The curvy edit

Posted in The Look Show by Nneoma Ulu on February 22, 2011

I am a curvier girl and I’m not talking about the way in which magazines describe Kelly Brook (who is actually tiny) or Scarlett Johansson as curvy, I mean fuller figured. So it was great to see models over a size 12 strutting their stuff on The LOOK Show catwalk last week. The average dress size of a woman in the UK is size 16, so whilst we flick through pages of magazines, what most of us are faced with is not our reality. The fuller figured models were on the catwalk as part of LOOK and Lorraine (morning show)’s Curvy Supermodel competition – they were the top three finalists. What I love about the looks the girls featured in was that they are some of the hardest to pull off – leather dresses, jumpsuits and busy prints – normally things that fuller-figured ladies should avoid. I have a wardrobe full of slimming dark colours and the Spring/Summer 2011 collections are full of vibrant colours that wardrobe definitely needs. After seeing these ladies at The LOOK Show, I feel even more confident that I can pull it off!
