Pedalling in Heels

Posted in Cycle Chic by Nneoma Ulu on August 16, 2011

It’s official, I’m a 3.1 Phillip Lim girl. For his Fall/Winter 2011 collection, Lim took inspiration from “chic girls who ride bikes without compromising their style, they are really dressed for the day—it’s poetic and beautiful at the same time.” To capture the essence of the collection, he created a short film with Andrew Paynter following three models cycling around San Francisco in a green silk parka, a cocktail dress, and a color-blocked tuxedo – the modern girl’s cycling uniform.

So I had my appointment at the bike boutique Luv Handles last week and thanks to the help of owner, Mercedes, I am now well on my way to getting the bike of my dreams. It was a very difficult choice between the quintessentially British Pashley Princess Sovereign or the ostentatious Danish Velorbis Victoria. I’ve gone with the Pashley and I’m eagerly anticipating it’s arrival.
