London Fashion Week: Black is Beautiful at PPQ

Posted in London Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2010 by Nneoma Ulu on September 20, 2009

PPQ is synonymous with the young, cool and hip. The front row read like a who’s who of the London party scene – think the Geldof sisters. For PPQ duo Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker, it was all about the 1960s and they sent graphic prints in orange, purple and blue on jumpsuits and dresses teamed with big hats down the catwalk. There were also hints of PPQ’s new collaboration with adidas with a couple of t-shirts and dress using the adidas sign. More notably they made history by using only black models for their show. I wasn’t particularly wowed by this collection but I think that the duo should be commended for making a statement by using all black models on the catwalk. They brought a distinctive elegance to the catwalk and the clothing.
